South Fulton Alumni Chapter

Delmar L. Whittington II is one of the four primary petitioners for the South Fulton Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and the first Polemarch of the chapter. Along with 21 other charter members, he played a significant role in establishing one of the fraternity's fastest-growing and most talked-about alumni chapters. His vision for a "Kappa of My Dreams" alumni chapter has resonated with and attracted affiliated and non-affiliated brothers in South Fulton and the surrounding areas.
Brother Whittington is a talented technologist with over 28 years of experience in information technology. Delmar was born and raised in Homestead, Florida, south of Miami, where he attended Homestead Senior High School. In 1990, he was recognized as one of ten national "McDonald's Black History Makers of Tomorrow." A life member of the fraternity, he was initiated into the Kappa Zeta Chapter in Spring 1995 and is a graduate of Morehouse College. Additionally, he completed the Post Graduate Program in Cloud Computing at the University of Texas at Austin's McCombs School of Business and a Certificate in Leadership Principles from Harvard Business School Online.
Brother Whittington, a 2024 AAMVA Leadership Academy alum, was recently promoted to Director of Strategy and Innovation for the Georgia Department of Driver Services. Under his leadership, his team received the 2025 AAMVA International Trailblazer Award for "GA DDS Elevates Technology for 5-Star Customer Service " and the 2025 AAMVA Regional Innovative Use of Technology Award for "Georgia DDS Improves Address Change and Password Reset Functions for Security."
Brother Whittington has served as the award-winning Polemarch of the Stone Mountain-Lithonia (GA) Alumni Chapter, during which he won two Paul W. Caine International Chapter of the Year awards. He has also held the position of Director of Communications and has been a five-term Board Member from Georgia for the Southeastern Province. Brother Whittington takes pride in his faithful service to the Southeastern Province, for which he served under four Province Polemarchs. He is a member of the Undergraduate Task Force, primarily responsible for reestablishing and overseeing The Gamma Kappa, The Pi, and The Beta Delta of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
During the 33rd Grand Polemarch Thomas L. Battles's administration, Brother Whittington served in multiple key roles, including National Photographer, National Webmaster, and National Infrastructure Co-chair. He was instrumental in designing and implementing the fraternity's national voting system, which is still used today. Additionally, he created the electronic awards submission process for the fraternity's awards, significantly reducing costs by eliminating the need to print and ship thirteen copies of each petition to the Awards and Achievement Commission members. Furthermore, he was recognized by the fraternity for his innovative use of social media and technology in a campaign that successfully raised $100,000 for the Piney Woods School through the Pepsi Refresh Project.
Brother Whittington is actively involved in various civic organizations. He is a former board member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, an organization dedicated to supporting and improving the quality of life for African Americans, youth in particular, in the Atlanta community. Additionally, he served on the National 100 Leadership Institute Committee of the 100 Black Men of America. Currently, he holds the position of membership chair for the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc. He is also a member of the Atlanta Chapter’s Nominating Committee, the Collegiate 100 Committee, the 100 Golf Classic Committee, and the B.E.S.T. Academy Mentoring Committee.
He also serves as the Treasurer of the South-View Historic Preservation Foundation, an organization dedicated to recording, interpreting, restoring, and preserving Historic South-View's art, history, and environment. Many prominent Atlantans whose contributions deserve to be remembered and preserved are buried in Historic South-View, which has roots dating back to 1886.
Brother Whittington is a member of the Father’s Auxiliary (Big Jacks) of the Greater Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America and its first chair. His wife, Darlene, the founding president of this chapter, currently serves as the National President of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Delmar and Darlene have been married for 17 years.
Delmar is a proud father to son Brandon Clifton Whittington (27), daughter Skylar Noelle Whittington (16), and Pop Pop to Braylon D. Whittington (4).
